Young Artists EXPO POP UP
Saturday, February 10th and 17th from 2pm-6pm
DreamBox Gallery presents Young Artists EXPO – the artwork of students and participants of after school art classes (1st through 5th grade) at the French International School in Chicago. As part of the Before-And-After art classes, ceramics and drawing are taught by visual artist and art teacher at Lycée Français de Chicago – Anne Seigenthaler.
Through the drawing class, the children obtain new ways to communicate their ideas and gain skills on how to express themselves creatively. Drawing helps students to stay focused and observe their surroundings. In a relaxed environment, students learn about the creative process involved in art making, which also includes reflecting on what they have made.
In the ceramics class, students learn fundamental techniques and gain experience with hand molding and shaping clay. There is a freedom in their self expression and the clay is a forgiving medium in which mistakes can always be easily transformed. In the classroom children learn to think creatively to solve problems and produce unique artwork that can be functional, decorative or express imaginative ideas.
For the past few months, students have been exploring and experiencing different creative adventures and are excited to present a selection of their work at DreamBox Gallery.
THE EXHIBITION IS CURATED by ANNE SEIGENTHALER and IWONA BIEDERMANN
