Born in Ohio in 1963 and an artist and painter my entire life, I went to Kent State University after having received a scholarship from the Dayton Society of Painters and Sculptors to pursue design. I eventually transferred to the Columbus College of Art & Design, in Columbus, OH, graduating with a degree in Illustration and Design.
I’ve spent the past 20 years working professionally in the fields of design, illustration, display and advertising doing design work for companies such as: Sony, Reebok, Phillips, Jaguar, and Starbucks, to name a few; although I’ve also had a real fascination with architecture, and interiors.
I’ve been fortunate enough, recently, to begin devoting more time to painting through my studio, Studio-G-Chicago. It’s been a wonderful journey as I recognize more and more the importance of design in everyone’s lives, especially living in Chicago, a city defined by design.
As far as my work; I’ve always been drawn to color, pattern, and form, and am intrigued by the division of space. My paintings give me the opportunity to interpret an image, bringing out the inherent movement in a still moment or inanimate object, even capturing the sound of the moment. I don¹t want the canvas to be at rest, I want it to be influx…sometimes even breaking the image into multiple panels allowing the subject to pass from frame to frame. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do creating them.
