My work is based on my life as a first gen Latina female and the subsequent varied experiences that have colored my point of view as now a citizen of the world. I am interested in the duality of life and bringing this perspective to life in my paintings- whether it’s a focus on everyday city life or a historical nod to my heritage through the spectrum of color and language. This combination evokes the viewer to think in duality- to view at the work on a surface level but then to look past that initial viewing and invite them to explore the deeper meaning of their own place in the world. My work is meant to provoke conversation and discussion about origins stories.
