My work can fundamentally be described as realistic. Through painting realistically, however, my interest is not only representational accuracy. My ultimate concern is in creating images that capture a sense of psychological reality. I enjoy precision without perfection. I seek to create images that remain true to life while excluding enough visual information for them to retain suggestive qualities.
I primarily paint and draw the human figure and still lifes. Most recently, however, I’ve begun a series on tornados and seascapes.
