There is no feeling like picking up a material that makes you feel uncomfortable and making something you could have never made without it. It’s like realizing that you could dance all along, you were just listening to the wrong music.
Making things is very empowering. As a youngster artist I remember nodding and agreeing that good artwork makes people think. Over time I have become less and less excited about that idea of art. My work, as a result, has become much more subtle. It all kind of makes sense, especially when walking down the street has become a visual assault with advertising and signage.
I am inspired by street art and natural decay. Marcel Duchamp and Bruce Nauman are two artists that I have intensely studied and learned from. Thank you.
